The first step is to develop your understanding not just of who you are, but also how others perceive you. Discovering your leadership strengths and weaknesses, as viewed by your colleagues, puts you in the best position to become an effective leader.
To grow and develop as a leader you need to be acutely aware of your strengths, weaknesses, and beliefs. However, unavoidable bias can cloud your self-awareness, so you must create experiments to cut through your personal bias and see yourself objectively.
A brief introduction establishes the layout of the program, paving the way for an open and safe environment where you can share openly, freely reflect and receive the feedback essential to performing effectively. This includes understanding the high level of accountability required for you to achieve big results in this program.
You then take the crucial first step towards becoming a more effective leader by completing an online, 360-degree assessment of yourself. The comprehensive process will leave you with valuable feedback from peers, managers and direct reports. The results include both qualitative and quantitative information about your leadership skills and capabilities.
We then explore your holistic assessment results and provide feedback in a 90-minute, one-on-one session. By going through quantitative elements of your results we can get a clear picture of your leadership style and thought patterns. Qualitative feedback can help us to identify if and how your behaviours are different towards different groups or people within your business. We also aim to identify beliefs that stem from your own life. This groundwork establishes your strengths and allows you to map your projected development over the course of the program.
We visit the concept of personal accountability and explore how every goal you set is a contract with your future self.
This involves learning techniques that make your contracts hard to break, such as being highly specific and making the terms public. After defining your contracts, you are free to create a development plan that is anchored by how you ideally want people to experience you as a leader, along with a tangible list of start-and-stop behaviours, crafted in a way that you can make individual commitments to each behaviour. We’ll work to refine these and ensure each starting and stopping behaviour aligns with your leadership strengths.
We investigate your fundamental beliefs and assumptions that operate unconsciously and manifest as behaviours that limit your effectiveness. We explore the fears that feed your resistance to change while simultaneously formulating counter commitments to protect your core beliefs in times of professional growth.
We then design and implement your own SMART experiments (Safe, Modest, Actionable, Research-Focused and Time-Bound). The purpose of each experiment is to test your beliefs, so you can shift from being shaped by your unconscious belief system, to consciously shaping your belief system and the world around you.
We work on understanding your conscious leadership style and identify stretch goals to take you into the elite leadership performance bracket.
Being able to observe and name your beliefs is only the first step. To truly realise your potential and start achieving extraordinary results, you must be able to use this awareness to:
– predict your impact in every situation;
– intuit the pace required to remain relevant in an ever-accelerating and complex global economy; and
– understand an effective leader is constantly and consistently adapting.
In addition, we continue work on becoming more aware of your beliefs and when they are at play, and becoming your leadership brand through practising your start and stop behaviours.
We take the time to consider your definition of leadership. We look at the broad concepts of leadership and consider the key criteria common in effective leadership. We look at not just the actions, but also the behaviours and habits of effective leaders, and the impact of these behaviours and habits on individual and organizational performance.
You will understand the type of leadership required to thrive in today’s global environment, as well as the traits and behaviours that all great leaders live by.
This module encourages you to see your true potential, visualise a tangible picture of what your elite performance looks like and understand what is required of you to achieve it. This module gets you to aim for a goal bigger than you, one that will benefit many and requires you to go beyond your reasons not too.
We encourage you to start listening to your gut, to use your instincts and intuition as a compass to guide the discovery of your true purpose and uncover the dream you never believed you could achieve.
After laying the foundations and reaching for the stars, we start putting in place the fundamentals for leading more effectively.
To lead more effectively you need to apply your learnings in the real world. Through practising new behaviours from a conscious mindset you build your mental muscle. We raise the bar on leading effectively, getting you to go beyond an instinctive response towards making conscious choices that allow you to achieve increasingly better results.
You will be able to customise your modules to focus on your leadership strengths and ambitions. As well as five selected units from the following list, you will also participate in Taking Stock, a reflective exercise designed to consolidate your learnings from the program.
